About Horologiarius

Ideas, opened carefully.

A personal workshop devoted chiefly to philosophy and linguistics — and to the questions that appear when language, mind, nature and culture refuse to stay in separate rooms.

A workshop, not a manifesto.

Horologiarius means “watchmaker”. The name describes a habit of attention more than a profession: opening an idea, following its internal relations, and asking what makes the whole mechanism possible.

I write mostly from curiosity. A reading leads to a question; a question to a distinction; a distinction to another question. Some notes become essays, some remain marginalia, and some are simply attempts to understand something that still resists a conclusion.

Philosophy and linguistics form the center of gravity here. Around them orbit physics, neuroscience, literature, psychology, metaphysics, music and other subjects whenever the connection is intellectually useful rather than merely decorative.

I am less interested in collecting answers than in examining how answers are built — their premises, vocabulary, structure and consequences.

A guiding thought

But if we hold most constantly to that course which God commands us, and which we have undertaken to hold, we shall arrive by the Power and Wisdom of God at the supreme Cause.
